As the principal of Oxford Academy, allow me to welcome you to our website. Oxford Academy is a college preparatory public school, which opened in September of 1998. Recognized as a California Distinguished School and as one of the top ten high schools in the U.S. by Newsweek and US News and World Report, Oxford Academy draws students from the entire attendance area of the Anaheim Union High School District.

 

We are a school with an exciting and energetic learning environment for both students and staff. We currently serve 1124 students in grades seven through twelve with two administrators, two counselors, thirty-six certificated teachers and nineteen classified staff members.

 

All Oxford Academy students are required to participate in a comprehensive honors curriculum in the core subjects and must enroll and take the exam in a minimum of five Advanced Placement courses to graduate. Additionally, students are required to select one of two pathways in tenth grade, which they follow through twelfth grade.

 

Our school is organized into a Business pathway and a Biotechnology and Medical pathway. The Business pathway allows students to take business and computer courses to prepare them to create a virtual enterprise during their senior year and thus provide the necessary skills for success in the world of business. The Biotechnology and Medical pathway offers courses in health careers, anatomy, physiology, and advanced sciences. During their senior year these pathway students participate in research/internships to prepare for careers in medicine, science, and biotechnology.

 

In order to provide a caring and supportive learning environment along with academic rigor, our students are assigned to one teacher who meets with them in a “cluster class” throughout their six developmental years at Oxford. Also to promote the social and emotional development of our students, teachers take on extra responsibilities outside the classroom by serving as a class sponsor, a club sponsor, or as a coach in our after school sports program.

 

Our staff remains committed in all that we do to uphold the high standards that earned Oxford Academy the number one school in Orange County and one of the top high schools in the state with an API score of 983 in 2008-09.
